Who has the biggest pizza in Orange County?

I was down in Balboa the other day when I came across "New York Style Pizza." I remembered this little pizza shop, from when I was a little kid, as having the largest slices of pizza I had ever seen. The slices didn't look as big as I remembered, but they were still pretty big. The slices came from their extra large 28 inch pizza. I was going to buy one to take to the bonfire that I was on my way to, but they only took cash and the pie was $35. I didn't have the cash on me so I decided to move on.

As I walked away, I wondered to myself, "Was that the biggest pizza in OC?" I'm pretty sure I have seen 24 inch and 22 inch pizzas at other pizza parlors, but I think this is the first time I can remember seeing a 28 inch.

So my question to all of you out there is; what is the biggest pizza you have seen in OC and where did it come from? I'm talking about round pizzas too, not those big rectangle ones. Also, if you bought the giant pizza, how was it? Let me know!

That's a good question. I know the Ameci I used to go to in Fountain Valley started with the large size then went up from there. They weren't going to waste time fiddling around with "small" and "medium."

I've gotten the largest pizza at Ameci before. I think their pizzas top out at either 22 or 24 inches.

I just looked it up on their website. The biggest pizza at Ameci is only 20 inches. This place at the Balboa Fun Zone has them beat by 8 inches.

Yeah, I don't remember the measurements, just that they start at large. And it could be different at each location.

Depends what you like...

Tony's Little Italy Pizza - Placentia, CA -- The only place in the OC to get a REAL chicago style Stuffed Pizza (BJs is BS)

For thin crust NY style, I'm a big fan of
NY's Upper Crust Pizza

AZIZ

I think in this post he's not asking what the BEST pizza in OC is but what the BIGGEST pizza in OC is.

I think anon was thinking "biggest" as in weight. I would have to agree with Tony's in that sense.

Rosa's Pizza in Placentia, has the Big Mama. It's huge!

I'm not talking biggest as in weight. I am talking biggest diameter.

Mehrdad1, any idea how big the Big Mama is?

Pizza D'oro has 28" pizzas as well. The pizza is pretty good but I prefer the Balboa pizza. Their crust is thicker than the one in the Balboa. If you don't want the whole pizza then you can get a slice and salad for about 5 bucks.

yes I messed up..I thought it was best...

But I still think that Tony's wins in the MASS department

This may sound blasphemous (especially from someone who grew up on streetcorner pizza in NYC), but we were at the Lido Theatre in Newport Beach last nite, and we went into that Z Pizza by the theatre. I ordered a Gorgonzola/Pear Rustica. They nailed it. Right amts of ingredients, perfectly cooked thin, crispy crust.
I also love NY Pizza in Seal Beach, and the White at NY Upper Crust at 5 Points in HB.
BTW-when I tried Z Pizza at Goldenwest/Garfield in HB-it SUCKED!

The Empanada Man in Lake Forest (lots of Italians in Argentina!) has a 24 inch, 4 short of the record, but highly recommended.

Griffin: Sorry for the late reply. I went to Rosa's tonight to check. The Big Mama is 28 inches in diameter. I remember it barely fitting into the trunk of my 1982 Nissan Sentra, back when I was in high school.

Mehrdad-Thanks for going to check this out.

I guess pizzas in OC top out at 28 inches. If anyone hears of a pizza that tops that, please let me know.

Rosa's in Placentia literally has like 48" pizzas, maybe even bigger. At least they did when I was growing up there. Check it out
